Kentucky Licensing Procedures
These are the necessary procedures to schedule the Kentucky Insurance Producer licensing exam:
Apply for criminal background report ONLINE at: http://kcoj.kycourts.net/PublicMenu/
- If you are a first time user, select Register to create account; make sure that "I need a background check for me or another individual and will pick it up online" is selected. Once selected, fill out the Public Menu Registration information below. You will receive an email to verify your email address. If you already have an account, click LOGIN to access your account.
- Once logged in, you MUST select AOC FastCheck, then select Create New Record Request. Under Category, select Licensing; under Group, select Dept of Insurance DOI, under Reason, select Licensing. Within the section Person You Would Like to request a Record On: Choose Manual Entry. Once all required information has been provided, click on Add to Batch. You may now click on Submit Request in the lower left corner. You may Pay Now to submit and process your background check. The cost is $27, payable by credit card or electronic check. These fees are non-refundable.
The report is valid for 60 days. Should you have questions regarding the above, please call 800-928-6381.

- Click "Go to Online Application"
- After selecting resident state; within Identify Licensee section, under Individual - use Social Security Number (SSN). Before clicking next, check box to accept NIPR Use Agreement.
(The application process begins once the fees are paid and usually takes 72 hours to process.)

Once your certificate of completion has been electronically filed you may schedule your exam through your E-services account:
To obtain your license you must also have filed your financial responsibility forms. Whomever you represent as an agent should have this information. If you are not being appointed by an insurance company, call the Independent Agents of Louisville at 502-459-8880 Ext 33 and talk to Rhonda Roberts. You will have to obtain a Surety Bond or an Errors and Omissions insurance policy. The only other item that may need to be filed is Form 8302. This is an appointment form that your insurance company will need to send in for you to sell insurance for said insurance company.
